Plant, post and winner!
It’s official! Lee Ann Reiners of Tidioute is the winner of the $400 prize pack of garden tools courtesy of Ames True Temper! The prize pack includes a wheelbarrow, loppers, pruners, shears, hand trowels, a hose, hose reel, and a whole lot more - 18 items in all. Lee Ann’s name was drawn from the pool of participants in iConservePA’s Plant, Post, and Win contest encouraging the public to upload photos of their own native plantings. View all the colorful submissions here. It pays to conserve with iConservePA!
Treemendous savings on trees
Fall is a great time for planting and homeowners buying trees in Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster and Perry counties can take advantage of a discount TreeVitalize coupon at a participating garden center or nursery this season. The coupons are available at participating locations and can be printed from the TreeVitalize Web site. A coupon allows a customer to save $15 off the purchase of a tree worth $75 or more. The tree must be planted on a residential property. Don’t delay! This shady deal expires December 1.
Buy a local bird
Looking for the perfect turkey to punctuate your Thanksgiving feast? Go to Buy Fresh, Buy Local and click on your region, then “farms.” Enter turkeys in the “what are you looking for?” box, select a search radius, enter your zip code and hit search. The page will be populated by a list of farms that sell our favorite holiday fixing. Depending on the proximity, buying one of these birds conserves natural resources, plus some are raised free-range or in other sustainable ways. Your guests will gobble over their good taste and your earthly sensibility.
