iConservePA gets social |
Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, oh my! To those under 30, these make total sense. For those over 30… well…we’re just struggling to understand them, let alone get in the game. Since iConservePA is not even two, we’ve chosen Facebook and Twitter as a means to communicate with all those socially savvy communicators. If you or your friends and family have Facebook and Twitter accounts, search for and add iConservePA to your social network. We’re hungry for “fans” and “followers.” By sharing us with your friends and associates, you’ll help us spread the good word of conservation.
What’s your nitrogen footprint?
Pennsylvanians have a big stake in the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Our day-to-day activities impact water quality, and too much nitrogen —from human and animal waste, lawn fertilizers, and other sources — is a big part of the problem. Using the concept commonly applied to carbon and our contributions to global warming, the Chespeake Bay Foundation developed an internet calculator that allows people to estimate the amount of nitrogen produced by their household and see how it compares to the average. Want to be “nitrogen neutral?” Visit the calculator and find out how.
Profit from your waste
Earn two cents for each of your used cookie and energy bar wrappers, drink pouches, yogurt containers and more. If you’re selling, Terracycle is buying and it’s a wonderful way for young people to learn that waste can be a relic of the past. Eco-capitalism has arrived. Most famous for their all-natural plant food made from worm poop and packaged in recycled soda bottles, Terracycle has grown their product line and their profits. Go here and rejoice in the reuse revolution.
